Mississippi John Hurt Music Festival 2013

The 2013 Mississippi John Hurt Music Festival was a resounding success. Eric Noden, a noted fingerpicking blues guitarist and vocalist from Chicago headlined the event, performing deft, soulful renditions of many blues and ragtime tunes. Mary Frances Hurt dedicated the Festival to the memory of Art Browning, who had recently passed. Browning had been curator of the Mississippi John Hurt Museum for many years. The weather was beautiful all weekend and fans came from all around, guitars in tow, to jam on a few John Hurt songs for other appreciative attendees, including members of Art Browning’s family. John Ek presented Mary Frances with a spectacular oil portrait he painted of her Grandfather.
