Celebrate with us the life and music of one of America’s most legendary songsters, Mississippi John Hurt. In honor of the man, Mary Frances Hurt shares stories and memories of her Grandfather. In honor of the music, guitarists and musicians from all walks of life play Mississippi John Hurt tunes, sharing both musical advice and memories. Walk in Mississippi John Hurt’s footsteps through the humble three room shack he called home most of his days. A two day event, the Mississippi John Hurt Festival gives fans and friends ample time to experience Avalon and embrace the rich musical heritage of the man who inspired us to not only pick up our guitars, but actively embrace our musical past.
